The Waiting Is The Hardest Part

Hey everyone! It's been a while since we posted a new blog and people keep asking us for updates, so we decided to let everyone know where we're at right now!

The fact is, we've been in the same place for two months now. Once the home study is complete, the next step is literally just waiting. We get no updates, we get no information, we barely even communicate with our case workers during this time. They are busy with birth moms and other families who are being matched and placed and finalizing their adoptions, so we don't have much to discuss with them until it's our turn! And our turn could be at any time. We could get a phone call right now, next week, two months from now, or a year from now. We honestly have NO timeline at this point. It's literally just waiting.

During the waiting, though, we've found things to keep us busy! We had an amazing baby shower at the beginning of June with our friends and my side of the family. It was beautiful! We are so thankful for everyone who came and showered us and Baby Craft with goodies!

We've also been finalizing the nursery! We've gotten pretty much all of the major items with the exceptions of the rocking chair/recliner and the bookshelf! We have been collecting basic clothing necessities as well as diapering, bathing, and general necessities! And books! I keep buying Baby Craft so many books! I can't wait to be able to read to my sweet baby.

I might do a whole blog post on the nursery set up later, once I get the closet and dresser organized! If anyone has tips on organization in a nursery, let me know! I don't have a clue where to start putting things!

We have also been touring daycares since Coley and I will both be working full time after the baby gets here and we have taken our parental leave. We decided on a Montessori school that's relatively close! We are strong advocates of the Montessori process and can't wait to see how our baby learns and grows with this program! We have been working on getting and registering for Montessori based toys and such to make sure that their education at home matches that at school!

Summer has been the perfect time for me to work on applications for grants and doing fundraisers as well. We've had a silent auction that went way better than Coley and I ever imagined it would! We raised about $600 towards our adoption fees! Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and bought items to support us! One of our friends hosted an online Arbonne party for us as well, donating all of her commission to the adoption fund! We are blessed with the most amazing village to raise Baby Craft in!

As you can see, we've been super busy preparing for our sweet baby. I can't wait until we can post saying we've been matched and placed and Baby Craft is in their forever home with us. Until then, we wait and keep ourselves busy!

Please continue to pray for us and our future birth mom who is making this selfless decision to make an adoption plan for her child. She is a beautiful, strong, wonderful woman that we already love so very much. We cannot stress enough how much difficult this process is for her and we hope that she feels loved and supported as she endures this trying time. We are so grateful to her and to our entire village of friends and family. You guys are the best!
