What is the admittance meeting?
It's been a while, sorry guys! We've had so much going on in our lives, including finishing our home study! We finally got the word that our home study has been APPROVED! This was really the final step in being vetted to adopt. We are done!
People keep asking about our next steps. Really, there are none! We’ve had our admittance meeting with our agent and we are on call until we are matched! It’s so surreal to know that we could get a call at any time!
Our admittance meeting is something that a lot of people have asked questions about. What is it? I thought you were already admitted? Well, we are admitted and we had to go to the meeting for a couple of reasons.
1. We met our adoption agent/social worker. She is wonderful! I’m so thankful that we live close to her area. She is so kind and understanding and I know she is going to be such a blessing to help us through these final steps.
2. We reviewed all the legal risks again. We’ve done this about 12 times and we know it probably inside and out. But the agency wants to make sure that we completely understand the risks involved with adoption and various choices we can make to avoid them if we choose.
3. Our agent got to know us! She’s going to be showing us to birth moms and explaining our family. She needs to know who we are!
4. We were prepped for placement. She explained what to expect when we get that phone call! We were briefed on proper hospital dress, what to expect at the hospital, gifts to bring for birth moms, etc. There’s a lot that happens quickly once we get the phone call letting us know we’ve been matched!
It’s crazy to think our process may be over soon! We are so ready to become parents!
Please join us in praying for our birth mom and her baby. During our time of immense joy, our birth mom will be experience a time of immense loss. We pray for a safe pregnancy and delivery, but also that she has support and love during her grief and healing process.
