Our Story

Hello! Welcome to our adoption journey. We are thrilled to have so much love and support as we tackle the next great adventure that is parenting!

Coley and I met in college at NC State University. We endured many ups and downs throughout our college experience, including long distance and growing up together (and apart some). On Valentine's day in 2015, he took a knee in front of the Biltmore Estate and we began the next step in our lives.

We bought a house soon after and settled down in my hometown of Lexington, NC. We adopted a sweet puppy, Bo, who is definitely spoiled rotten. He's our fur baby and boy, does he know it!

We got married on July 30, 2016 in his hometown of Cherryville, NC. It was a beautiful day surrounded by our family and friends. We enjoyed our wedding, and especially our honeymoon in Jamaica! I'm still trying to convince Coley we need to go back to visit!

After the excitement of starting our lives together, our lives finally calmed down. We spent our time working, me as a teacher and him as a safety specialist for Amazon, and enjoying the married life together with Bo. Around December 2016, we decided that we were ready to expand our family with a sweet baby of our own. We began trying to conceive and continued tracking and such for a little over a year. By January 2017, we realized that we were going to need some help and made an appointment with my doctor. After many, many tests and procedures, it was determined that we would more than likely never be able to have our own biological child. We were devastated.

After a few months of coming to terms with our diagnosis and working through that devastation together, we had some serious discussions about what we could do to become parents. We researched many different options, including medical procedures such as IVF and IUI, sperm donations, and embryo adoptions, as well as other options such as foster care. We prayed on the decision and were called towards domestic, newborn adoption. We felt as if this was the path we were destined to take and began researching our options.

There are so many agencies out there who are willing to help (and many more who are just willing to take your money). We relied on friends and family who have also been led towards adoption to help us make a decision. We spoke with a ridiculous number of agencies, trying to find the best fit for our family.

We finally decided on Christian Adoption Services in Matthews, NC and we began communicating with them to find out our next steps. After an information session and some more discussion and prayer, we took the leap of faith and applied to their domestic program. On November 9, 2018, we received the news that we had been accepted into their program! We are currently on a waiting list until a position opens up for us, but we are excited to begin our journey!
